The sporty CZ Good is the first OS Smartwatch of the citizens

Citizen has introduced its first Wear OS Smartwatch, the CZ Smart. It has a sporty design and modern features, but uses the older Snapdragon Wear 3100 chip and can be ordered now for $395.

Add another name to the list of established watch brands that produce Google-powered wristwatches. Citizen unveiled the CZ Smart, its first Wear OS watch and its first Smartwatch with a fully digital display.

The Smartwatch is intended to evoke Citizen’s “iconic” sports watches with its large 46 mm steel case, knurled aluminum ring, conventional-looking pushers and digital dials reminiscent of both analog and LED-based watches. It has a water resistance of 3ATM (good to a depth of 98 feet) and offers options for silicon bracelets and an ion plated metal bracelet.

Accordingly, the citizen loads the CZ Smart with features you would expect from many newer Wear OS devices. The watch includes a heart rate monitor for fitness, a speaker/microphone combination that helps you take calls, and NFC for tap-to-pay purchases. You’ll also find GPS, a barometer and a compass under the 1.28-inch AMOLED display.

However, this hardware is behind the times in some ways. Citizen’s first Smartwatch still uses a Snapdragon Wear 3100 chip with 8 GB of memory compared to the more powerful Snapdragon Wear 4100, which has already found its way into some watches. This is not necessarily an obstacle, but it is a factor to consider if you are determined to use the latest technology.

Citizen is now accepting pre-orders for the CZ Smart at a price of $395. This is significantly more expensive than competing products like Fossil’s Gen 5. However, this is one of the better looking Wear OS Smart watches outside the luxury market – the effort might be worth it if you like the Citizen badge or just want a Smart watch that looks good no matter what you wear.
