Samsung devices receive three Android model updates: Here is the complete list

Samsung is committed to updating its devices over three generations of Android. This is great news for customers of the latest devices, because it means you can keep the device for an extra year knowing that you still get the latest software.

Samsung is not committed to any kind of schedule, and the company does not have the best track record for timely updates, but there is often an overlap between the capabilities of One UI and Android. However, the news offers some reassurance regarding Galaxy devices.

Samsung as gone a little further, confirming that the following devices will all get updated for three generations. What’s interesting is that Samsung is committing to provide this update for some 2019 devices – the Note 10 series and Galaxy S10 series for example – while committing to the updates for future Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Z and Galaxy Tab S devices.

Samsung has also stated that some Galaxy A devices will be supported for three years – and these appear to be the top-of-the-line devices. For the Galaxy S20, which comes with Android 10, this means that you will get Android 11, 12 and 13. This should keep the updates going until 2023, although much depends on when Samsung will release these updates.
